Canmore Canada Day Celebration, Operations Manager
Similar responsibilities to the Canmore Folk Music Festival for this one-day event that receives 15,000+ patrons; an annual highlight for Canmore residents and visitors and a considerable source of civic pride.
“I also really like this combination of connecting the youth and older generation in our community! It puts faces to the names that built our history and faces to the smiles of our bright future! “ — Cyd Fraser
Canmore Folk Music Festival, Operations Manager (until 2014)
Alberta’s longest-running folk music festival takes place over three days in August. Each year a temporary little town of ~15,000 is created, leaving no footprint when complete.
Alberta Winter Games, Snow & Ice Sculpture Cultural Coordination
The AWG 2014 wanted the event to feel festive and have a sense of Pageantry for the key locations in the community of Banff and Canmore, in Alberta. With thousands of athletes, support and community arriving, Provincial Media was there and the sculptures provide significance in these locations. The carvings provide a center piece for the games and the venues they are located at aw well as creating a sense of arrival and excitement in the community. Appropriate themes for all the sculptures were threaded through the design direction without losing the uniqueness of each artist which was to combine our local animal icons and sport. Photo opportunities for visiting athletes, volunteers and community become a priority for long lasting memories and critical for social media formats today. Exposure for our local artists and their talents is invaluable. Through our efforts we created a legacy of snow and ice carving for future seasons and events and wonderful sense of pride for the athletes and community.
Canmore World Cup, Downtown Events Manager
The goal was to make sure FIS (Fédération International de Ski) totally understood that Canmore can support events culturally as well as technically. The 2012 event that I coordinated was so successful that FIS committed to holding an international event here every year – in 2013 it was the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) World Cup.
