The Canmore Folk Festival and two other local organizations are receiving the Community Initiatives Program grant, from the Government of Alberta, on July 3rd, 2014.
CIP grants exist in order to reinvest provincial revenues into communities through organizations committed to responding to local needs. The recipients on July 3rd are:
- The Alberta Avalanche Rescue Dog Association, a non-profit association of dog handlers whose goal is to offer help in saving the lives of skiers and wilderness enthusiasts caught in avalanches.
- The William Watson Lodge Society, an organization committed to ensuring Albertans with disabilities have access to the great outdoors we all enjoy here in the Rockies.
- The Canmore Folk Festival, Alberta’s oldest music festival is returning for its 37th year featuring world-renowned folk artists and giving Albertans from all over the opportunity to enjoy great music in the mountains.
Cyd Fraser is proud to be part of the team that is receiving the fund. The Canmore Folk Festival has been an important part of Cyd’s life, volunteering since 1993 and, now, as the Operations Manager.
On July 3rd, MLA Casey will be hosting a Community Grants celebration and official cheque presentation in their Canmore office with the presence of the media and volunteers from all the organizations.
